Clear Cut Lawn Care is ready to help you restore your lawn to its full potential with our Aeration and Overseeding service. We offer everything your lawn needs to get back into shape:

Thatch Removal

If your lawn has a large amount of dead grass and thatch, we recommend removing it to give the new seed access to the soil. We use a power rake to remove the thatch and dead grass to ensure you get the most out of your seeding application.

Core Aeration

Prior to overseeding the lawn, it's important to aerate the lawn. Aeration removes 2 to 3 inch cores from the soil. Core aeration provides several benefits for your lawn:

  • Reduces soil compaction
  • Improves airflow to the soil
  • Provides a place for seed and fertilizer to group which reduces drift from water and wind.
  • Improves thatch breakdown
  • Improves water absorption

Overseeding

Fall is the best time of the year to overseed your fescue lawn. Overseeding in the fall gives the lawn more time to develop before next summer, which results in turf that is more drought and disease tolerant.

Our seed inclues a combination of 3 different fescue cultivars and is 100% weed free. Using multiple cultivars improves drought and disease tolerance.

Fertilizer Treatment

When seeding, it is also important to apply a starter fertilizer to the lawn. This will help speed up root growth and allow the turf to grow thicker.

Moisture Manager Treatment

We also recommend a moisture manager treatment to minimize drought stress to the seed. Many homeowners do not get the results they are expecting because they are not supplying the soil with enough moisture to allow the seed to germinate properly. Moisture Manager can reduce watering needs by up to 50%, and is especially helpful for homeowners that don't have irrigation systems or face watering restrictions.

Lime Treatment

Due to the amount of clay in our soils, we recommend a lime application annually. Applying lime to the soil helps keep pH levels in check, which is important in North Carolina because the soil is more acidic than is optimal for turf. If you haven't applied lime this year, we recommend a treatment at this time.
